is organic compost unhealthy for skin?

Question by 4thebenifitofmrkite: is organic compost unhealthy for skin?
so I was digging myself a mud bath in an area in my woods that already has mud in it. after I dug for a while I came across this black clay like stuff that I later learned was organic compost. Would it be okay for me to get this organic compost on my skin?

Unless it’s been contaminated with something it should not hurt, unless you happen to have a sensitivity to certain chemicals that may be present. I would say to wash it off when possible to avoid possible reactions.

  • It would be kind of gross don’t you think? It’s basically fertilizer……
I guess if it doesn’t stink though, it’s probably been out there long enough that it’s just basically really fertile dirt. I doubt it would do anything, but honestly, I’d prefer to dig in a different spot.
