What can I do to make myself more marketable for my job interview?
Question by ljn331: What can I do to make myself more marketable for my job interview?
I have a job interview on the 2nd at an organic cosmetic and bath shop.
I know they have a number of other interviewees, and I probably don’t have the most experience of the bunch. But I really want the job.
I was wondering how I could make myself more marketable? I’ve been familiarizing myself with their products and policies. And I’ve been using their products as well (well ok.. I do that anyway). What else should I be doing, besides the obvious (well of course I’ll dress the part…)

Look the part, show passion and enthusiasm… if it’s sales a smile goes a long way.

Be product positive, tell them how much you like them . . .
Then ask questions , ” How do you educate customers about the high quality of the product ?”
“This is such a wonderful product line, do you expect to open more shops ?”
Have some questions that show how you value the products and are interested in their future growth.

Relax.
Be honest.
Be confident.
Be yourself.
Bring extra copies of your resume in a nice portfolio.
Don’t be stiff in your chair.
Don’t talk too much (that you bore the interviewer).
Don’t talk too little (be a little detailed).
Ask the interviewer questions if asked towards the end of the interview.
Smile.
The first 30 seconds or so are crucial in an interview. Practice your 2-minute drill. Go to the reference I’ve included. You’ll see that and more advice.
Google “job 2-minute drill” for other references.
Be prepared to tell a little about yourself and experience. Don’t reveal too much personal information, unless it’s directly job related, or if asked (I know that sounds like an oxymoron.)
Show interest in the company and ask, or rather, tell them what YOU can do for THEM. Be sure they know that you know their product, as you’ve indicated.
Don’t use words such as “well,” “like,” and “you know”.
The previous answers offered good advice as well.
Good luck.
